Day 58 of Smilemakers around you – Sharpening knives with a sparkling smile

He trudges across different localities of Mumbai on different days of the week with a huge load on his back.
His screams on top of his voice to announce his arrival.
He has mainly old customers who keep calling him back to sharpen their old knives.
He is part of a dying trade called knife sharpening which the new generation may not even know about.
His white beard and wrinkled face, belie his inner strength of climbing up staircases too with his heavy trade equipment.
He hardly makes about Rs. 400 in a day and works till he gets physically exhausted.
He gives his knife sharpening service at our doorstep and to our neighbours too.
He was surprised that I even bothered to interact with him, because most customers just close the door on him after finishing their work.
He was even more thrilled when he received a bag of clothes and a watch from us.
He did not seem bothered about the dangers of sharp knives or the sparks that came out of his roller blades, and still didDSC00491 his work with a smile.
