Day 71 of Smilemakers around you – Caring for Rag Pickers when no one else doesHe has been painstakingly working with the Municipality for public cleanliness since the last twenty three years.
He undertook a census of illiterate workers who migrate to the city and end up performing menial work like rag picking.
He is associated with an NGO that caters to the interests of about eight hundred rag pickers.
He is committed that their next generation do not end up being illiterate or addicted to drugs.
He has adopted a child of a rag picker, and has taken complete responsibility for taking care of her education needs to make her an IAS officer.
His commitment for the cause of the downtrodden of urban society makes me smile.
