Day 115 of international places giving smiles –Remembering Fujaira Emirate of UAE
We decide to take an impromptu drive in the summer heat through the rows of mountains to see the 7th emirate of UAE… Fujaira
It was a very long drive from Dubai to Fujaira to Khorfakkn to Dibba to Masafi and back via Sharjah….
After a long non – stop drive through the mountains, we see the colours of the souil changing and finally reach from Dubai to fujaira. Our first stop was to see the usual interesting Arab artefacts at the Fujaira Museum
In the hot sun we were the only crazy tourists to climb up the steps to get a birds eye view from the Fujaira Fort
We even saw people actually doing parasailing water sports at the Khorfakhan Corniche, despite the scorching summer sun
And after all the hype, we got to go inside the oldest Mosque of UAE at Al Bidya which is quite small in size.
The advantage of a having a 4 wheel drive is that we get to easily glide on the sandy beaches, as we halted a while to wet our feet in the cool waters at the beach of Al Aqqa
The nearby Miramar Beach Resort was crowded with tourists, trying to take a break in the hot weather.
The fishing port of Dibba was filled with locals who stared at rare tourists like us.
We then had a very scenic drive from Dibba through small hills and villages like Alhala, Al Abadillah, Yallah, Tayibbah, Al Khaladhiyah. The simple yet grand scenery of the mountain ranges from Dibba to Masafi was quite memorable.
At the Masafi market, we had some excellent saffron tea and an Arabic sweet which reminded me of a Mangalorean dish called Goli Bhajje! We just had to buy some artefacts and fruits, but resisted the temtation of buying carpets.
At our last stop at the Masafi fort we were happy to listen to a dedicated positive energy Pakistani guide Khyberulla, who even hesitated to accept a 10 dirham tip!
A beautiful ending to a long day at a beautiful Emirata- Fujaira.
So what place made you smile today?
Be thankful for the places that make you smile!
