Day 178 of impactful experiences making you smile – Pioneer actress from a conservative community
Meet Kishori Ballal, a traditional South Indian woman who ventured into the acting field since the 1970’s, when no one else from her community did so! With the support of her talented family members she went on to continue her passion and act in many other renowned theatre productions, advertising films, television serials and even movie roles. She is fondly recognized by all for her portrayal of the loving Kaveri amma in the movie Swadesh with Shahrukh Khan.
If she would say that she is busy with her shooting assignments then this would become a topic of conversation among the orthodox women in the 1970’s! She nurtured the acting skills of many during her times. I too was fortunate to have an opportunity to work with her in 1983. In fact she was instrumental in suggesting the arranged marriage alliance of my future husband to my mother!
Every so called conservative community needs a pioneer woman like Kishori Ballal. May she continue to inspire many upcoming hopefuls with her inspiring life!
