Day 367 of trivial things during travel giving smiles – enjoying free samples at duty free shops in airports
Do you know one of the common aspect of every international airport? – the duty free shops! Instead of walking past them because you have a flight to catch, can you spend some extra time there to stand and stare at all the goodies on display?
On day 1 of my long vacation, as we were transiting through Istanbul airport I just had to do my usual round at the duty free shops.
My first stop was at the perfume counters..i just have to freshen up with the best smelling perfume on display.
Then the free samples on display beckon me seductively towards them. I just had to try out the best brands of moisturizing creams to hydrate my flying skin! And I prefer not to put any make up on my face during long air travel, even though there are many tempting foundations, eye liners etc.calling me again.
One must do item on my duty free shopping spree is to try out a good brand of lipstick and this time it was a purple lipstick for me to match with my purple pants!
And Istanbul airport had another unique free sample that is no where else in the world- their famous Turkish delight sweet in a variety of colours and flavours. I just had to indulge in my sweet tooth cravings to my hearts content!
On rare times, I may actually buy something from these shops. Yet mostly I walk back to my boarding counter with a cheeky smile on my face, thrilled at the free sample experience!
So become aware of your travel experience that may seem trivial but gives you a big thrill?
