Bowing to our school teachers who gave us a good foundation of French, Geography, Maths, History and English respectively.
At our annual school reunion, we were thrilled to interact with the above subject teachers, elegant Miss Girty, sweet Miss Monica, straightforward Miss Prabha, strict Miss Ophelia, stylish Miss Lydia respectively.
In school you may have no clue as to the importance of every subject that you study. However when to go to French speaking Montreal, you appreciate the delicateness of that language because you as studied it in school, when you travel around the world, you can relate it to the history and geography you learnt in school, when foreigners are surprised and fascinated with your good English, it is because of your strict grammar teachers in school, your daily accounts are great because of your love of Maths that developed in school…
It was great to gather in a circle and dance with each of them.. They seemed so unapproachable when we were kids. At the end of the session, my geography teacher told me that jiving with me was such a fantastic moment for her!
And yes, even after 40 years of leaving school we still smile and bow to our teachers in gratitude at the annual school reunion.
So in 2018, do notice these simple smiling moments. Have a smiling year!
