Climbing spiral stairs to reach the top of an old tower of a fort.
Remember a famous song that was picturised on the steps going round and round inside the Qutub Minar? Well that memory came back as I slowly made my way inside a dark, dusty and mosquito infested spiral staircase of the Vasai Fort. In fact I was in two minds whether to venture up or not, and I am so glad I got over my laziness and actually took up the arduous route.
Once we reached the top of the spiral stairs, the view of the expanse of the fort from the tower was amazing. We were higher than the tallest trees, we could see the edge of the fort the ramparts, the boats on the port and the vast ocean and the horizon.
There is something really magical about ancient structures that brings a smile to anyone. You just have to give up your sensitivity to the unusual smells that also accompany you in such places.
So in 2018, do notice these simple smiling moments.Have a smiling year!
