Motivating all participants to jump from a high cliff to the river below
One of the scariest experiences of my life was when I stood at the edge of a cliff that was almost two stories above the water level and wondered if I had the guts to take the plunge.
In spite of the life jacket on me and the lifeguard in the kayak below, I still had the shivers to let go of the safety of the rocky cliff below my feet.
Finally I kept chanting the Lords name, and looked forward instead of below and just jumped with a splash right into the depths of the river water! For few seconds I thought I would not come up as my loose helmet, covered my eyes and all I got was darkness and a panic feeling for a strong gasp for breath.
I held on tightly to the boatman for dear life, and took some time to come to terms with my situation… I was actually alive…that fear was just a momentary experience, yet the thrill of overcoming that fear of cliff jumping would become a lifelong memory!
This was my personal trial round with a relative for company of all the adventure activities in the camp. Two weeks later when I actually took charge of a group of corporate professionals, I smiled as I was actually able to motivate them to overcome their momentary fears and try out things that they had never tried out before to get new results that they could not even imagine as possible!
So do notice what makes you smile in your professional life. Have a smiling year!
